8 Lies The World Tells Us About Happiness

We’ve all been there. Going from thing to thing to try and find something that makes us feel happiness. Whether it is from buying things, staying busy, or trying to make sure that you are liked by everyone around you. Happiness is one thing that every human is seeking after. We all want happiness in every aspect of our lives, but what if what the world deems as “happiness” is all a big lie? Today, we will be covering eight of the lies the world tells us about happiness.

  1. Happiness Is Found In Approval

    • 1 Samuel 16:7 - “But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

  2. Happiness Is Found In Constant Activity

    • Psalm 46:10 - “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”

  3. Happiness Is Found In Self

    • James 4:10 - “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.”

  4. Happiness Is Found In Perfection

    • Romans 3:23 - “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”

  5. Happiness Is Found In Revenge

    • 1 Peter 3:9 - “Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.”

  6. Happiness Is Found In Instant Gratification

    • Galatians 5:22-23 - “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”

  7. Happiness Is Found In Possessions

    • Matthew 6:19-20 - ““Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.”

  8. Happiness Is Found In Control

    • Proverbs 3:5-6 - “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

Conclusion:

So today, don’t let yourself be found in chasing after these eight worldly happinesses. It’s crucial to remember that our happiness can never come from the world, but through our relationship with God, and with humbling ourselves and serving others. So will we listen to the lies of the world? Or will we retrain our brains to find happiness in our walks with God?
